  1. I really wanted to like this It had a very appealing theme and characters that at first glance were rather intriguing, but it was just so poorly and so very choppily written X does Y A does B A talks to X X answers A A walks up the stairs and opens the door X sits down at the bar not actual text, but that s what it all felt like to me and even poorly edited typos abounded, grammatical mistakes like you re your, they re their there, and comprise was used in two different occasions when compromi [...]

  2. I wanted to like this book It s a neat story But two things really turned me off.The first is the PoV switching and the really bad editing Case in point, after negotiating a deal See, comprise sic , Mort follows his brother out That s why we re such a great team Others have said enough about that. The second is the homophobia repeated in the book It s fine if a character is homophobic, heck, if the author is, I can t argue that Even if I believe homophobia is bad I just hope that the author under [...]

  3. To read this review and others like it, please visit my site, ufreviews This a book about two father dysfunctional brothers who are grim reapers I was actually pretty intrigued by the concept of this book because I was a huge fan of the show Dead Like Me back in the day which was also about grim reapers, and also had a kind of dry humor through it.This book for me was kind of a mixed bag, some of the elements were good and some felt like they needed work There were several grammatical errors al [...]

  4. For those joining us late, there are a ton of great indie urban fantasy stories out there, and today s offering, Two and a Half Dead Men, is just the latest example of that extremely happy trend If you like snarky narrative, hilarious sibling rivalry, and an interesting story with lots of one liners, then you ve definitely come to the right place.Thane and Mort Grym are the the kind bounty hunters you d get if Jake and Elwood Blues had to finally find new jobs One does the thinking, one does the [...]

  5. The relationship between the brothers was character development gold I really enjoyed their interactions The concept was fresh and the plot was well paced The story kept my interest throughout and entertained me I read it in one day and didn t put it down except when I needed to do something else.Aside from several typos and grammatical errors, I also had trouble with the POV It mostly was a 3rd person observer which, to be clear, I have no problem with , with no forays into the characters thoug [...]

  6. First off I have to say that I absolutely loved Thane and Mort As lead characters and brothers, their interactions steal the show and kept me wanting to see what they were going to find themselves into next In the first book of this series we are introduced to the Grym brothers and learn a little about their odd occupation, Grim Reapers They are issued bounties on souls that are lost or have refused to move on to the Afterlife This time they are given a rather unique request Not only have two so [...]

  7. Two and a Half Dead Men is the first in a series featuring the Grym brothers Brothers who are also bounty hunters for the dead Sometimes the dead don t pass over and it is their job to bring them in Thane and Mort are two of the best characters I have read in a long time They are complete opposites, but loyal to each other Thane is neat, responsible and has a long time girlfriend Mort gambles, drinks and can t keep the cockroaches out of his apartment The banter between the brothers was very fun [...]

  8. This had a lot of pieces I tend to enjoy in an urban fantasy The narration is rather snarky, the two main characters have the potential to be hilarious, there are some rather comic situations and lots of action In the end, though, it was just okay The plot was good, but in some ways the individual scenes felt repetitive the Gryms get beat up by some huge guy, the Gryms fight with each other, Mort wants a drink and a stripper But it kept me reading.

  9. Humorous tale about two brothers that are grim reapers Sort of a detective private eye story, with oddball characters The author has a great imagination to think up this stuff I liked this book Got it for free on my Kindle I m going to spring for the 99 cents and get the second book about the Grym brothers.

  10. I m enjoying the story but the constant online shifting of verb tense is tiring If only Mr Krumbine had not elected to use present tense verbs His choice makes me feel like I m reading a script instead of a novel Oh well it s still a good story.

  11. I read this for review at Sift Book Reviews and, since I don t want to skew the rating by posting twice, you can see the review here siftreviews 2011 09 tw
