  1. What s funny about these comics is that they are funny I didn t know that at first I knew they were wry, strange, quirky, harrowing, haunted, well drawn and well written, but it wasn t until I saw John read them live that I figured out they are audience pleasingly funny But yes, they are short story comics, like the publisher says, if by short story you mean something that confuses and delights rather than trundles you down the same old road That is, these are the best of what short stories and [...]

  2. This is a great collection of comics that can be read than once and stared at thought about for a long time I really like the slow opening of the book, too you have to check it out to see what I mean We spent over a year putting this together and thought about all the different elements that make up a comic book, or any book John did an amazing job scanning hundreds of drawings, which he did an amazing job drawing in the first place, and I m really proud of the way everything came together.

  5. It s exciting to see this kind of work in the graphical story form It reminds me of Blegvad s The Book of Leviathan, though this book is still something entirely it s own I loved the artwork and the strange, often slightly disturbing stories Woods does some really interesting things with this form.
